Caterham Dene Ward

We have a 28 bedded inpatient ward for people aged 18 years and over requiring a period of rehabilitation after illness, injury or for certain conditions.

Ward reception

Admission to the ward prevents such patients being admitted to the main hospital, and enables them to return home after a period of assessment and treatment provided by a close-working multi-disciplinary team.

We're pleased to open our Caterham Dene Ward visiting hours from 2pm – 4pm or 6pm – 7pm.

Each patient on the ward can have one daily visit from a person they've nominated and the number of visitors at the patient’s bedside or on the patio area must be limited to one nominated person.

To continue to keep our patients, staff and visitors safe, our ward staff will continue to ask screening questions before any visitor is permitted to enter the ward. All visitors are also advised to have a negative lateral flow test on the day of the visit.

Please phone the ward matrons if you require an alternative visiting time on 01883 837517.

We ask you to help us by:

  • Not visiting if you are unwell or showing signs of coronavirus
  • Wearing a fluid resistant face mask in the hospital which we can supply for you
  • Entering and leaving through the ward entrance
  • Cleaning your hands with alcohol gel provided when entering and leaving
  • Staying at least two metres away from other people

The multi-disciplinary team includes:

  • Medical input
  • Pharmacist
  • Nursing staff
  • Occupational therapy
  • Physiotherapy
  • Social Services Care Manager
  • Other visiting therapy services include Speech & language therapy, Dietetics, Audiology and Podiatry.

The team work closely together with the patient, their relatives and carers, to achieve objectives set together with the individual patient.  The team will also refer to other services and specialties to provide ongoing treatment following discharge if required. The hospital has an active League of Friends which is a Registered Charity which supports patients, staff and visitors. You can find more information about them on our community page.

Other services available at the hospital include:

  • Visiting Pastor to listen and discuss a patient’s cultural and spiritual needs
  • Interpreting service or British Sign Language Signer can be arranged
  • Manicurist and
  • Therapeutic groups.

This service is a 24 hour service.  Referral is made via your GP, main hospital or health professional.

Eliminating Mix Sex Accommodation

First Community Health & Care C.I.C. is pleased to confirm that we are compliant with the Government’s requirement to eliminate mixed-sex accommodation, except when it is in the patient’s overall best interest, or reflects their personal choice.
