Admission to the ward prevents such patients being admitted to the main hospital, and enables them to return home after a period of assessment and treatment provided by a close-working multi-disciplinary team.
The multi-disciplinary team includes:
- Medical input
- Nursing staff
- Occupational therapy
- Social Services Care Manager
- Other visiting therapy services include Speech & language therapy, Dietetics, Audiology and Podiatry.
The team work closely together with the patient, their relatives and carers, to achieve objectives set together with the individual patient. The team will also refer to other services and specialties to provide ongoing treatment following discharge if required. The hospital has an active League of Friends which is a Registered Charity which supports patients, staff and visitors. You can find more information about them on our community page.
Other services available at the hospital include:
- Visiting Pastor to listen and discuss a patient’s cultural and spiritual needs
- Interpreting service or British Sign Language Signer can be arranged
- Manicurist and
- Therapeutic groups.
This service is a 24 hour service. Referral is made via your GP, main hospital or health professional.
