Audiology is the branch of science that studies the sense of hearing. Its practitioners, who study hearing and treat those with hearing losses, are audiologists. If a hearing deficit is present, an audiologist attempts to uncover the cause of the problem and amplify where appropriate.  Audiology also includes the study of the balance system and the rehabilitation of those patients where suitable.

The opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to join our friendly, small, hard working team.  We currently have six permanent Audiologists and two assistant Audiological practitioners who are supported by two admin assistances and an admin support manager.

The department has a wide range of responsibilities, serving four CCG’s as well as the Acute Trust.  We provide comprehensive diagnostic and Vestibular services, as well as including a fully modernised hearing aid service for adults as well as a tinnitus support service.

We are based at Crawley Hospital, with satellite clinics at East Surrey Hospital, Horsham Hospital, Birchwood podiatry unit and Caterham Dene Hospital.

The post is to work across all sites, in both hearing aid clinics and ENT support clinics.  The audiology service works hard within the community to sign post for health difficulties, as well as health prevention for our community.
