Employees at First Community, which provides community health care in east Surrey and West Sussex, rate the organisation’s services as among the best in England compared to other similar organisations providing NHS services. The 2017 NHS staff survey went out to more than 1 million people at 309 organisations providing NHS services. The results of the survey were released on 6 March 2018.

Of the employees who took part, 88% said care of patients and service users is First Community’s top priority compared to 77% nationally and 89% said they would be happy with the standard of care provided by First Community if a friend/relative needed treatment. This compares to 78% with other similar community-based NHS organisations in England.  Redhill-based First Community employs 450 nurses, therapists and support staff.

‘Coming on top of the ‘outstanding’ rating awarded to First Community by CQC in 2017 putting us in the top 2% of health organisation rated by CQC in England, this is great news for the people of east Surrey, as it means the services they receive are among the best in the country, ‘ said Sarah Billiald, First Community’s CEO. ‘I am also delighted that colleagues say it is also a great place to work with 74% of staff saying they would recommend First Community as a place to work, compared to 56% nationally.’

First Community provides NHS community-based nursing and therapy services, such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy and dietetics, to local people at home and in local clinics across east Surrey and parts of West Sussex.
