Notes for Editors:

The Surrey Hubs

The Surrey Hubs project is a trailblazing initiative which is being led by the four county wide User Led Organisations in Surrey, in partnership with Surrey County Council Adult Social Care. These organisations are:

  • Surrey Coalition of Disabled People
  • Surrey Disabled People’s Partnership (SDPP)
  • Surrey Independent Living Council (SILC)
  • Action for Carers Surrey

The overall aim of the Hubs is to allow disabled people, older people, carers, families, professionals and other members of the community to access to a wide range of information and support regarding services in their community.

The Hubs also provide access to advice such as advocacy, independent living, welfare benefits and many other services. There are currently 8 Hubs and the intention is that one will be established in each of Surrey’s 11 districts and boroughs. They are all based in an accessible town centre location.

Each Hub has a Volunteer Development Worker whose role is to oversee the smooth running of the Hub, ensure a high quality, professional service is provided to our customers and to support, train and develop a skilled team of volunteers. For more information about The Surrey Hubs East or the Black Friday deals at the Hub Redhill Independent Living Shop please contact Sarah Lynch, Senior Volunteer Development Worker on 01737 761614 or email s.lynch@surreyilc.org.uk

Surrey Independent Living Council (SILC) was founded in 1997 by a group of disabled people and is a registered charity, Number 1146482.

We believe that every older person, disabled adult, child, and carer should be able to live independently with the same choices, opportunities and control over their lives as anyone else.
