Results from the national NHS staff survey puts First Community Health and Care among the best in the country. Of the staff who look part, 86% said they would be happy with the standard of care provided by First Community if a friend/relative needed treatment. This compares to 74% with other similar community-based NHS organisations across the country. First Community Health and Care provides community-based health care services for the NHS across east Surrey and part of West Sussex.

Nearly 90% of staff said care of patients is First Community’s top priority compared to 74% nationally and 73% staff would recommend First Community as a place to work, compared to 55% nationally.

‘These are a fantastic set of results, demonstrating the high quality of the care and services we provide, I am extremely proud of all of my colleagues who work so hard,’ said Chief Executive Sarah Billiald. ‘From the district nurse team providing care in people’s homes, to the health visiting team who support parents with their new babies, every day the First Community team works tirelessly to help keep our local community well and manage their health and well-being.

The NHS Staff Survey is among the largest staff surveys in the UK. As a provider of NHS community services, First Community chose to take part in the survey and commissioned Picker Institute Europe to carry out the survey as one of two licenced providers. This year, Picker Institute Europe was commissioned by 8 community providers and our final results have been compared to the average results with these organisations. Compared to the other community providers whose survey was administered by the Picker Institute, First Communities return rate was 63% compared to 51% nationally.
