On 21 June 2019, two Nurses from First Community Health and Care were delighted to collect awards at the Queen’s Nursing Institute Awards 2019 (QNI).
The event took place at the Royal Garden Hotel, London and was attended by almost 500 community nurses and guests.
Liz Mouland, Chief Nurse & Director of Clinical Standards was awarded the title of ‘Queen’s Nurse’ (QN) for demonstrating a high level of commitment to patient care and nursing practice and was presented with the award by Suzanne Gordon, International Speaker and Journalist.
Following the ceremony Liz said: “I am absolutely delighted to have been awarded the Queen’s Nurse title. There are now 31 Queen’s Nurses in Surrey and I am very proud to say that we have five in our organisation”.
“I have been a community nurse since 1993 and I am inspired every day by the actions, dedication and commitment of my colleagues to their profession and to see the positive impact and outcomes they make for our patients, families and community”.
“As Chief Nurse for First Community, I will continue to promote the specialist community nursing roles which are key to meeting the current and future needs of our local population”.
Lisa Gavin, 0-19 Homeless Health and Surrey Gypsy and Traveller Project Lead was presented with an award for The Fund for Innovation and Leadership.
The award was presented by Dr John Unsworth, QNI Chair of Council which included ten projects focused on helping people experiencing homelessness or living in temporary housing.
Lisa was presented with the award for her outstanding work on the Gypsy and Traveller Health Bus project.
Lisa added: “It was both thrilling and humbling to be included in this group of amazing Community Nurses from all over the UK”.
“I am delighted to have the opportunity to highlight the health needs of Gypsies and Travellers and privileged to work with these communities”.
