Positive results from First Community employees in national NHS staff survey

Published on Tuesday 26 February 2019

Employees at First Community, which provides community health care in east Surrey and West Sussex, say its services are first rate and recommend it as a good place to work. The 2018 NHS staff survey went out to 1.1 million people at more than 300 organisations providing NHS services. The results of the survey were released on 26 February 2019.

Of the more than 70% of First Community employees who took part in the national survey, 84% said the care of patients and service users is First Community’s top priority and 88% said that if a friend or relative needed treatment, they would be happy with the standard of care provided by First Community.  Almost 70% of staff said they would recommend First Community as a good place to work.

‘Once again the results of the NHS staff survey are very positive.  I am particularly pleased our results for staff health and wellbeing improved this year as we launched a programme called #HealthyMe to promote colleagues’ physical and mental health and wellbeing after this was identified as an area for improvement in last year’s NHS staff survey. There are, of course, areas to improve and we will focus on those in the coming months so that our CQC Outstanding rated services continue to improve and we offer a positive work environment for our committed clinicians and support staff, ‘ said Sarah Billiald, First Community’s CEO.

First Community provides NHS community-based nursing and therapy services, such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy and dietetics, to local people at home and in local clinics across east Surrey and part of West Sussex.
