First Community strengthens digital inclusion with successful website accessibility audit
In May 2026, First Community successfully passed its annual website accessibility audit, highlighting its commitment to inclusive digital services.
Working with Verse One, First Community's website provider, a full audit was carried out to identify areas for improvement and to ensure the site meets Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2. This included testing the site using screen readers and other assistive technologies and updating the organisations accessibility statement to reflect recent changes.
Following improvements, the website is now approximately 88% compliant with WCAG 2.2, which is a strong result and a significant step forward.
Accessible websites are essential in helping people access important health information and services. Improvements such as clearer navigation, readable content and compatibility with assistive technology benefits not only people with disabilities, but all users.
First Community continues to work to improve accessibility on its website, and any new content is reviewed for accessibility before being added to the site. You can read more in the accessibility statement here: https://www.firstcommunityhealthcare.co.uk/accessibility
This work forms part of First Community's ongoing commitment to making its digital services as accessible and inclusive as possible and support the NHS 10 Year Plan to move from analogue to digital.
