New pelvic health videos to support people before and after birth
First Community's Pelvic Health team has launched a new series of educational videos designed to provide people with trusted advice and practical guidance on some of the most common pelvic health concerns.
The four new videos cover key topics including postnatal pelvic floor exercises, perineal massage, bowel health and bladder care, helping people access expert information at a time and place that suits them.
Pelvic health issues can affect people at different stages of life and are particularly common during pregnancy and after childbirth. Many people have questions about how to strengthen their pelvic floor, prepare for birth, and manage bladder or bowel symptoms, but may not always know where to find reliable information.
The new videos have been created by First Community's specialist pelvic health physiotherapist to provide clear, easy-to-follow advice and support people in looking after their pelvic health and wellbeing.
The postnatal pelvic floor exercise video explains the importance of pelvic floor exercises after having a baby and provides practical guidance on how to perform them correctly. Strengthening the pelvic floor can help support recovery after childbirth and improve bladder and bowel control.
Perineal massage is designed for people giving birth; this video demonstrates perineal massage techniques and explains how they may help prepare the body for childbirth.
There is a video offering advice on maintaining good bowel health, including lifestyle tips and practical strategies that can support healthy bowel function and reduce symptoms.
You can also learn more about bladder health, common symptoms and simple steps they can take to support healthy bladder habits and improve day-to-day wellbeing.
The videos form part of First Community's commitment to providing accessible health information and empowering people to take an active role in their care.
