Carolyn Conquest from Oxted was referred to First Community after suffering a fall on holiday last year which left her hospitalised for over three months.

While on holiday with family, Carolyn had an accidental fall down a set of stairs which resulted in her breaking bones in her back and suffering a spinal injury. Carolyn spent three months having numerous hospital treatments and was told she may lose the ability to walk again. Carolyn was introduced to First Community’s Intermediate Care team to help her make the transition from hospital to home.

In the short video below, Carolyn describes the care she received from a range of First Community staff including the Intermediate Care team, and physiotherapists as “really crucial to her recovery”. Carolyn feels that the treatment she received helped her to be able to walk again.

Carolyn will now continue her recovery journey with help from First Community’s Oxted Therapy team.

Su Ryan, Associate Director of Scheduled Care said “ Here at First Community we are delighted with the progress Carolyn has made and we will continue to support Carolyn on her recovery journey.  I am extremely proud of the care and support our staff have provided and continue to provide to Carolyn and all our local patients.”
