First Community prepare to move to a new multipurpose community health hub

First Community are working to consolidate several of our community services into a single, modernised facility as a First Community Health and Care Hub to improve patient care, staff collaboration, environmental benefits, and financial sustainability by March 2026.

Over the past year, extensive research and evaluation have been undertaken to rationalise our estate. Our aim was to identify a building which is affordable, centrally located within east Surrey for delivery of our services, fit for purpose for a range of patient services and fits with our ambitious green plan. The building we have agreed on is Consort House, Redhill (5-7 Queensway, Redhill RH1 1YB), a central east Surrey location. This building is owned by Surrey County Council which supports our ambition to deliver first-rate value by investing in the local community we serve.

This purpose-designed clinical base can be accessed via several bus and cycle routes and is within a short walk of Redhill train station with north-south and east-west connections. Consort House is centrally located within Redhill town with adequate parking for patients and staff. The building is within easy reach of the new Clinical Diagnostic Centre in the Belfry shopping centre. The close proximity of our services supports the NHS ambition to make health care more accessible for residents.

First Community intends to host the following services from this location effective from March 2026:

The Caterham Dene Minor Injury Unit and Intermediate Care Ward at Caterham Dene Hospital will continue to operate as normal and will be unaffected by this change.

Sarah Tomkins, Chief Executive said, "I am delighted with our decision to create a multi-purpose First Community hub in central Redhill, this decision supports the NHS 10 year plan to help our residents manage health conditions within their community. We will be able to offer patients  improved access to our services, reduced travel for many and better continuity of care. This decision is also much more cost efficient allowing us to invest more in patient care and service provision. The building will also significantly reduce our carbon footprint."

First Community looks forward to welcoming patients, colleagues, and partner organisations to the new multipurpose community health hub.
