About the service

Caterham Dene Hospital has a 28 bedded inpatient Intermediate Care Ward for people aged 18 years and over requiring a short-term period of rehabilitation after illness or injury.

The team provides a period of assessment, care and rehabilitation for patients and work with them to identify their own goals. They help patients return home with any necessary assistance required or support them to identify a future care environment to meet their needs.

The team comprises of registered nursing staff and healthcare assistants who provide 24-hour nursing care along with physiotherapists, occupational therapists, rehabilitation assistants, a doctor (GP), pharmacist and adult social care.

Referrals are also made to other services and specialties as required.

How to access the service

You can be referred to an Intermediate Care Bed at Caterham Dene Hospital from an acute hospital, by your doctor (GP) or other healthcare professional.

Friends of Caterham Dene Hospital charity

The Friends of Caterham Dene Hospital became a registered charity in 1948, following the formation of the NHS, aiming to provide additional funds for equipment and help improve facilities at the hospital.

The Friends of Caterham Dene Hospital support the hospital on a daily basis providing newspapers, slippers, socks and toiletries, equipment for the physiotherapy departments and hand creams for staff.

With a loyal membership base of over 500, they hold many fundraising events throughout the year, as well as receiving Gift Aid Tax, bequests, and donations instead of funeral flowers. A shop within Caterham Dene Hospital is manned by volunteers throughout the week, selling many craft items and donated gifts.

They are always looking for volunteers to help with fundraising. If you'd be interested in joining the charity to help develop facilities at Caterham Dene Hospital, you can join for a small membership fee of £10 per year.
